Different challenges. Thoughtful strategies. Meaningful results.
Every organization faces its own communication challenges. Sometimes that means navigating change, strengthening internal communication, building community relationships or helping people better understand an important issue.
Here are a few examples of how we’ve worked alongside organizations to develop practical strategies, address challenges and achieve meaningful results.

Helping an Organization Grow Through Stronger Communication
An Alaska tribal nonprofit was experiencing significant growth. As its programs expanded, keeping staff informed and connected became increasingly challenging.
We worked with leadership to assess internal and external communication, identify opportunities for improvement and develop a strategic plan aligned with the organization’s goals.
The impact
The organization established a stronger foundation for communication that continues to support its work today. Leadership credits these improvements with helping the organization better serve its communities.
Building Community Connections Through a Successful Business Launch
When a national franchise prepared to open two locations in Alaska, the owner wanted to do more than introduce a new business. He wanted to build meaningful relationships in both communities.
We developed and implemented a public relations and community outreach campaign that connected the company’s mission with local interests and opportunities.
The impact
Both locations met or exceeded their goals, with one achieving one of the strongest openings in the franchise’s history. The campaign also earned national recognition for its approach to reputation management and community relations.
Helping Protect Alaska Native Cultural Traditions
For generations, Alaska Native communities have relied on walrus ivory for cultural traditions, subsistence and artistic expression. But confusion surrounding ivory restrictions threatened these longstanding practices.
We partnered with Alaska Native organizations and other stakeholders to develop a public education campaign explaining the legal, ethical and responsible use of walrus ivory.
The campaign included documentary videos featuring Alaska Native carvers, educational materials, advertising and advocacy resources.
The impact
The nationwide campaign reached millions of people and provided communities and advocates with tools to share accurate information and protect cultural traditions. The client subsequently engaged our team for additional campaigns.
Helping a Nonprofit Navigate a New Direction
After more than 50 years of serving its community, an Alaska social service agency adopted a new strategic direction to focus its resources and strengthen its impact.
Implementing that vision required clear communication with staff, partners and the broader community.
We helped the organization develop a proactive communications approach, strengthen its messaging and provide staff with tools to communicate the organization’s evolving priorities.
The impact
Staff reported feeling more connected to the organization, additional grant funding was secured and the agency maintained positive community support through the transition.
Our work together continued beyond the initial project, building a long-term partnership that provides ongoing strategic counsel and communications support as the organization’s needs evolve.
Awards & Recognition
Our work has earned recognition at both the state and national levels for strategic thinking, creative solutions and measurable results.
In 2021, Embley Communications received two national honors from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA):
- PRSA Silver Anvil Award — Reputation and Brand Management
- PRSA Award of Excellence — Community Relations
We’ve also received numerous awards from PRSA Alaska recognizing excellence in communications.
